A concession occurs when you agree to the other person’s demands without gaining anything in return. For example “I wanted to go to McDonalds, but he wanted to go to KFC, so I conceded and went to McDonalds.”
A compromise occurs when the two people come to a result that benefits both of them. For example “I wanted the temperature set to 72, but she wanted it set to 62, so we compromised and put it to 67.”
In a concession, one gets what they want. In a compromise, neither get what they want but agree to meet in the middle.
