Есть много нюансов, но обычно
в - это внутри чего-то
на - на поверхности чего-то.
Мы находимся в России (внутри страны).
Мы на крыше здания (стоим на её поверхности, не внутри здания.)

Aber manchmal gibt es Ausnahmen, zum Beimspiel: Я еду на метро/на машине, aber в поезде. Sondern ganze : Я сижу на полу, Я вижу человека в этом здании. Bei einem/eine ist fast immer на. Zum Beimspiel: Я сейчас на тренировке/ я сейчас на соревнованиях. Auf Russisch = на русском und du kannst auch "по-русски" sagen. ( Entschuldigung für meine Fehler , wenn ich einige gemacht habe)
