Question about Spanish (Mexico)
What does “Hace años que las guardo con la esperanza de que algo se pueda hacer” mean?
I’m really confused about every part of this sentence, can someone break down why each word is used?

Entonces..cual es la diferencia entre poder y poderse?
- Spanish (Mexico)
@willforr
Poder:
Tengo el poder de decidir sobre mi vida.
Poderse:
Tendría que poderse. (Que pueda decidir sobre mi vida).
En la primera puedes omitir o dar una explicación extensa.
En la segunda siempre se omite debido a que se sobreentiende de lo que estás hablando.

Con un ejemplo; suponiendo que el objeto del que hablamos sean unas viejas FOTOGRAFÍAS:
“Hace años que las guardo con la esperanza de que algo se pueda hacer - con esas FOTOGRAFÍAS -“

It's quite possible to directly translate it into English.
"It's been years since I'm storing them hoping that something can be done."
The "can be done" sounds a bit off but it's like an implicit "hoping that I can give some use to them" (to those stored things)
