Does “tergemuk” make sense and sound natural in this sentence?: “Ini buku tergemuk yang pernah saya baca.”
The official English translation by Duolingo is “This is the thickest book I have ever read”, but so many course takers argue that “thick” should be “tebal” and that “gemuk” can be used only for human beings.
But according to KBBI, “gemuk” also means “fat soil”.
(jika ditanam di tanah yg gemuk tentu lekas tumbuh.)
I guess we can also translate “gemuk” as “high quality of content” or simply “rich”. If so, the original sentence suggests “The content of this book is really helpful for my education.” Is my interpretation correct?

It doesnt sound natural if you use "tergemuk". It should be "Ini buku tertebal yang pernah saya baca.
Tebal is used for a thing or some parts of the body (such as: eyebrows, hair, lip) and gemuk is used for human only. You cant use gemuk for a thing.
Tanah yang gemuk does sound weird. Fat soil means tanah yang subur.

Maybe it can be interpreted as an implied word, as mentioned in KBBI, gemuk here means the amount of food substances for plants

karena tubuh manusia merupakan unsur/eleman tanah, tanah yang subur bisa disebut gemuk.
Gemuk juga bisa berarti pupuk. Di KBBI diberikan contoh:
- tanaman ini perlu diberi gemuk.

You can't use gemuk for books. If you want to say that the book contains high quality of content, you can say bukunya berbobot instead.
