Personally, I think both are the same, whether you use one or another the meaning stills the same. For example:
Te llamo en cuanto llegue a la casa
Te llamo tan pronto llegue a la casa
Están trabajando sobre dicha propuesta, y la presentarán tan pronto como sea posible.
Están trabajando sobre dicha propuesta y la presentarán en cuanto sea posible.
As native speaker I use them both interchangeably (with "as soon as" meaning)

@LyleSnake they mean the same and are interchangeable.
literal translation is
en cuanto puedas: do this in the moment that you can/are able to (but as soon as that moment arrives).
tan pronto como puedas: as soon as you can.

Tan pronto (como) sounds to me like "as soon as you finish A do B" with a sense of urgency. En cuanto sounds more relaxed like "after you finish A do B".
