“I’m down”, is used more when you are saying you are agreeing to, and/or want to do something that someone else is suggesting.
“Want to eat pizza and watch a movie tonight?”
“I’m down.”

I think it comes from “putting your name *down* on paper”. Signing up for something. Registering for an activity.
