沒有前後文的話很難回答哦，但文章如果用在對古代學問的形容的話，有「文法(『寫作』的方法/風格研究)和章句(文章中的句子/句意研究)」統整合稱的意思。
請問跟剛剛的「考據學」引的是同一篇文章嗎？如果是的話，這整段的大致意思就是，和新思潮匯流(A想法遇到B想法並互相交流)之後讀書人的思考範圍不再受傳統學問(就是四書五經等等，中國的經典被公認一般有十三經，這些經典的解釋、解釋的再解釋所寫成的書可以高達38經。
藝指的是內容依現代標準的話，屬於文學評論丶詞集、曲集、詩集那一類的文章，相對前面的章句之學在國學領域中則是被稱作「小學」。
總之文章有兩種意思，用英文可能比較好解釋。
一般情況：Artcle，古代的「藝」一類，廣義。
在歷史書、一篇古文中看到的情況，有特別「」的：The knowledge of sentences \Grammar /A Theory of Writing Style ——專門的統整性名詞。
