- English (US)
If you insult somebody, it is usually on purpose. It can be very cruel: "You're stupid." "You're wife is ugly." However, sometimes it can be an accident, if you don't speak a language well.
If you offend somebody, it is usually not on purpose. For example, tourists may wear inappropriate clothes (shorts, t-shirts, sexy or revealing clothes) to a church or temple. They do not intend to be offensive, but religious people will feel offended by that behavior.
