kind of. they are about choosing the candidate most qualified and competent to lead and help the country. most favor candidates that share their interests, but i like to think that most value country over party.
of course the candidate being the most competent as well as sharing similar interests like a similar stance on social issues is an added bonus. but you'll never find someone you'll agree with 100%.
