マレーシア以外（例えば、シンガポール、ブルネイなど）には”マレー語”だけ呼ばれます。
マレーシアの憲法に書いてある正式な名前は”マレー語”でした。しかし、建国以降、政治家たちは”マレーシア語”に変更する必要があると言っています。全国民（民族に関係なく）の言語ということです。
２００７に、内閣は”マレーシア語”の呼ぶことを決めました。
今、”マレーシア語”と”マレー語”の呼ぶこともあります。時々私達も混乱します。笑
