Resentment is something that refers to a long period of anger. It usually doesn’t happen overnight… You can be upset instantly, but if you are consistently disappointed or unhappy with someone’s actions, you might resent them.
“I resent my sister because she always tried to steal my parents attention.”
“I work so hard to make my employers happy, but they never notice, and after all these years, I have become resentful.”
Just a note: when someone is resentful, it is not considered a positive trait. Resentment is a bitter state of mind.
