You have to:
– find the verb
– figure out what group it belongs to (1st, 2nd, 3rd)
– choose a past tense (main past tenses are: imparfait, passé composé, passé simple)
– and conjugate! That's it 😉
For example:
Je MANGE des pommes.
Manger = 1st group
For this one I will choose imparfait.
→ Je MANGEAIS des pommes.
There is no easy way but there are tools that can help. If you don't know how to conjugate a verb, you can use this tool:
