Fierce , tough , violent brutal and cruel are all kind of synonyms for example , “the monster would be fierce ” so it tells us that the monster is big , and scary , but brutal means awful and heartless and violent is what you would call a person who is aggressive and cruel just means mean and horrible , so they are all adjectives to describe a negative topic :)
