@AjSegik The first variant sounds very formal, and the second one is more informal.
Examples:
- Russian
"иметь"- to have something it is a synonym to "есть".
Иметь смелость - there is no particular person, who "has courage", this is an idiom
I want to have a car
У меня есть(имеется машина) - in this case you can't use only "у меня" as we can't understand what exactly do I have:
the car is stolen?- у меня украли машину
You can use у меня/...,if there is no need in word "have":
I have 5 at mathematics
I caught a cold
I have bad memory
