Question about English (US)
Grammar Question :)
The maximum capacity limit has gone up from 25% to 33% by the end of April, heightening the industry’s expectation on theatre attendance in the near future.
Grammar is really tricky ;< please explain why this sentence has 'heightening' in the middle of the sentence but still correct. thank you so much ✨

I'm pretty sure "heightening the industry’s expectation" is NOT grammatically correct.
You usually say "raise the bar" or "raise the expectation". Even "elevate" sounds better than "heighten".
