If by "quirk" you mean "oddity" it would be "stramberia". If you mean "obsession" that's "fisima". Anyway, neither word is used much in most of Italy. They're both perfectly good words. You'll find them in any dictionary. It's just that most Italians don't really know Italian anymore. All in all, I'd use "stranezza" (weirdness) for "quirk" (quirks = stranezze). That should work.

@LeoB20Fi: I'll use it then, don't worry. Italians don't know Italian and they don't care; they're ignorant to say the least. A lot of people's first and only language is actually their dialect.
