Both are perfectly interchangeable and equally natural, with the meaning of "sometimes". For example: «[algunas veces] / [a veces] siento que no me amas» ("sometimes I feel you don't love me").
However, «algunas veces» could also mean "a few times". For example: «he estado en México solamente algunas veces» ("I've been to Mexico only a few times").

@Fab_ri so to be clear, I can use either one as preference for sometimes and only algunas veces for a few times?
- Spanish (Mexico)

They do NOT have the same meaning, they just sound similar and even natives get confused.
If I say ´´Algunas veces como pizza`` means that is fewer than ``Aveces`` because It can happen like 3 to 5 times in a year because is not something that happens regularly, it means like ``rarely `` so it is a synonym of `` Casi nunca`` in Spanish and it is likely to be confused with`` A veces``. So, ``A veces`` is more general, this is in the middle of all the frecuancy adverbs just like ``sometimes``.
Hope it helped :)
