Chicken is a flightless bird. A “hen” is a female chicken. They are often used to lay eggs which is a common American breakfast food. They are often kept in “coops” which is an small outdoor house where they can lay their eggs comfortably. Also there is usually one male chicken in the coop called a rooster. Hay is brittle dry grass often used to feed horses and other farm animals. You often hear it referred to as a “bale of hay” which is usually how it is packaged or bound together.

Example:

“I put a bale of hay in the horses pasture.”

“None of the chickens in the coop have laid an egg.”
