They’re very similar and are pretty interchangeable. For example:
Do you need anything from the grocery store?
Do you want me to get you something from the grocery store?

The main difference is the words "want" and "need."
'Need' implies that it is a necessity and it is required for something else to happen that this person gets you something.
'Want' is more of something that is desired. So you want something, you don't need something.
An example of a need would be food and water because you need them to survive.
An example of a want would be a computer or a stuffed animal, because you wanted them and they weren't needed.
Hope this helps! (o^^o)
