Alaska and Maine are the only states that have implemented ranked-choice voting state wide, but there are other states that have implemented it for local elections. The standard voting system is first-past-the-post voting

I don’t know about the only kinds, but first-past-the-post is easily the most common. Some states and cities have ranked-choice voting.
Also, when electing the President, we have a convoluted system called the electoral college. In this system, candidates get “electoral” votes from the states, where the states in turn vote based on a first-past-the-post system. A state’s number of votes is based on the number of representatives they have in Congress, which is 2 Senators + some number of Representatives in the House of Representatives, which is proportional to population (at least 1). If a state has 7 electoral votes, and a presidential candidate gets 50.01% of the votes, they get all 7 electoral votes.
To be honest, it’s not a great system. It’s meant to give smaller states a more equal playing field, a compromise that dates back to the founding of the USA, back when the states were less united and needed to be assured that other states wouldn’t outvote them all the time. Nowadays, I think it’s outdated. Many people agree with me, but a lot of people don’t.
