Looking from sentence to sentence:
▪I like cabbage - as the action of eating it
▪I like cabbages - in general
With watermelon is the same
▪I like watermelon - I like eating watermelon
▪I like watermelons - not just the one, but every watermelon
And the same with pineapples as well
▪I like pineapple - it's a fruit that I enjoy
▪I love (like) pineapples - like for example a friend of mine loves pineapples so much that she got a tattoo of it.
Hope this helped! if anything keep asking.

I heard big fruits like watermelons and pineapples, it should be singular in the sentence here
I like watermelon.
Not
I like watermelons.
By the same reason you say
I like cabbage (not cabbages).
Is that right?
