Question about Finland
How do the Finnish pronounce names?
How do the Finnish pronounce names?
I have quite a few Finnish family members but I have no idea how to pronounce some of their names. They're dead by now, but I'm still interested in my family history. The names in question are, the surnames Loukkula and Adolfintytär, and the first names are Kseenia and Väinö

Finnish names are pronounced the same as the rest of the language - the way it's written. Here's a link on Finnish alphabet https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finnish_orthogr...
- Country or region Finland
Except Adolfintytär would at least nowadays be pronounced with a longer A in the beginning, since it's a loan word from Swedish or German.
- Country or region Finland
I'll just go ahead and say these. I assume Kseenia goes with Adolfintytär, as it's a female name and tytär means daughter.
