I am a third-year graduate student at Penza State University, let me introduce the project.
Today there is a global environmental problem associated with atmospheric pollution by various gases, including during energy generation at thermal power plants. At the same time there is one more problem - it is the limited resources, which are used at thermal power plants, and this is oil, gas and coal.
The solution to these problems is alternative energy, namely solar cells and electrochromic panels. And these devices necessarily have a layer of transparent conducting oxide, which is used as a transparent electrode.
In addition to the above devices, transparent conductive oxides are used in flexible electronics, organic LEDs, touch screens, LCD displays, as well as coatings that prevent icing.
Analyzing the market you can also assess the relevance of developments in the field of transparent conductive oxides. The market is growing every year. The most commonly used material is indium-tin oxide. However, due to its rarity and high cost, there is a worldwide search for alternative, cheaper materials with similar parameters.
In addition to the search for an alternative material, many scientists are engaged in research and improvement of these materials. Most actively engaged in this direction in Germany, Japan, Denmark and China. There is also a choice of methods for obtaining transparent conductive oxide.
Further, concerning the market of devices, on the slide there is a table of development of electrochromic panels. It is also evident that there is significant growth every year.
The same is true for solar cells.
In Russia, solar cells and electrochromic panels are not as developed, but the market concerning smart glass can be estimated from the glazing diagram for 2021. At the same time electrochromic panels already occupy a certain part and every year this part will only increase.
Traditional methods of obtaining thin-film coatings have a number of disadvantages, in particular they are complicated by the use of vacuum, which increases the cost and complicates the process of incorporation into the production process. Therefore, it was decided to use the spray pyrolysis method. Its advantages are presented on the slide.
However, every method has its disadvantages. The two main disadvantages of the spray pyrolysis method are the problem of the reproducibility of the coatings and the unevenness of the coating.
The solution is the development of an intelligent automated system for controlled synthesis of transparent conducting oxide, the technical specifications of which are presented on the slide.
In addition to the unit, a database of mathematical models linking process parameters and properties of the transparent conducting oxide will be developed for the first time and an algorithm for intelligent selection of the technological mode of synthesis of transparent conducting oxide will be developed.
The unit itself will be controlled by a microcontroller and specially developed software.
The system will also be equipped with a system of moving the atomizer along the set trajectory to increase the coating uniformity index. The system will be based on stepper motors and designed for spraying samples up to 30x30 cm in size.
The university previously developed a laboratory model of a unit for synthesis of transparent conducting oxides by spray pyrolysis. Samples based on tin dioxide and tin dioxide doped with antimony were obtained and investigated. The samples obtained are of relatively good quality: the transmittance reached 93% in the visible spectral region, the minimum obtained surface resistance of 27 ohms per square.
