I would like to give you an example "Before Texas was actually admitted Tyler had ceased to be President."
If I use "stop" in place of "cease", which description would be better, or more natural?

They mean the same thing, but are used differently. Most of the time, the word "cease" is used when something or someone stops themselves. Usually we don't "cease" other people. But the main difference is that cease is a more formal word, and is only used for actions - like you can stop a car, but you can't cease a car. However, you can stop or cease a car from running. In your case, I would use ceased, because stop sounds more like he chose to not be President anymore, which I assume is not true, but both are fine.
