Question about Arabic

Assalamu'alaikum. I need an explanation to this scenario:

If let's say, a Yaman Arab (Yemeni) walks into an Arab restaurant owned and worked by Syrians in Singapore (non arab country), and both as we know speaks different dialects. So will the Yemeni try to speak in Syrian dialect or he will just use Al Fusha straight away? Or how exactly will they communicate?

Is there a common similarities between dialects that make any Arab can understand all dialects?
