@Stay_Strong 尋日 and 噙日mean yesterday. There’s no difference between them and the usage depends on people’s preferences.
1) 我尋日同(我)男朋友嘈交
2) 我噙日同(我)男朋友嘈交
They both mean I argued with my boyfriend yesterday (嘈交 means argument)
You can use both words interchangeably and people will understand.

@Stay_Strong I can’t tell which one is more polite because ‘yesterday’ is an adverb. I think Hong Kong people tend to use 尋日. Hope this helps!

tldr: the two are totally equal.
This is a phonetic change of the same vocab.
You can think of how you pronounce thr same word differently in Br/Am English, or even the accent in England vs in Scotland // NY vs California
The differents are
① the sinitic characters are principally ideograms, but for this vocab the etymology, and hence the "correct and precise" character is unknown. Therefore the characters here are some kind of homophone to represent the pronunciation [cam4] vs [kam4]
P.S. In HK we write 尋日 / 琴日
② it is more a personal different then dialect, e.g. I prefer 尋日 more but my family use 琴日, though it is even interchangeably used by the same person.
To your question that which is more common / polite,
I would say unless I specifically pay attention to it, normally I didnt even notice which variation is spoken.
