Question about English (US)

What does "Green is not a good color on you" mean? I leaned that it comes from the saying, "to be green with envy" but I don't understand the nuance and what it implies.
Is it like "it doesn't sound like you to be jealous" or "Don't be jealous" or "Your jealousy is ugly" or anything?
