Question about English (US)

A: "Look at the guy who is wearing his headphones around his neck."
B: "Look at the guy who is putting his headphones around his neck."

Hello! Do you think "wearing" and "putting" are the correct verbs in the situation? Also, when I say "headphones", do I have to say "his"? Can I just say it without "his"?
