He said: the vet seems to think that she is becoming a rooster. We’re getting a second opinion.
Since they think their baby chick is a chicken(female)and not a rooster(male), even though the vet told them its a rooster they refuse to accept it ( insisting that its female).
Hence they’re getting a second opinion.( from another vet i assume)

We are getting a second opinion, means they are asking someone else what they think is happening or why something is happening or what something means.
For example, if you go to the doctor and the doctor diagnoses you with Parkinson’s disease. You could say to the doctor I’m going to ask another doctor what they think. .” You are telling this doctor that you are going to ask for a second opinion
