Question about English (US)

As you native English speakers know well, the example below is a type of "conditional" sentence:

If I had got up early yesterday, I would not have missed my flight!

But it looks, at least from my point of view, complex to some extent, and also too formal!

So let me know what you think about my opinion? am I right or not?

Is this type of conditional sentence is too formal and just used in formal speech and in written texts or is it used by regular people as well in their daily talks?
If the former is right, please tell me how people make this conditional form in their talks?
