Does the expression "down the road" sound too casual?
I'm sitting on the fence between these two sentences below for an essay for an university's application.
1. ... , because that would lead to saving more people’s lives eventually.

use the first one but try putting eventually first

The first is definitely a bit more formal though I doubt most native speakers would even register "down the road" as too casual. For a university application though, that's probably how you want to go. Down the road you can use casual English with your friends. :)
Also, note that it would always be "a university".
