Question about English (US)

What would be the main distinction between saying "this has been my go-to device" and "this has been my favorite/preferred device"? (details down below)

I don't understand the nuance of saying "my to-go (something)". So the first thing that comes to mind is that it might be "a device that the person likes using while going out there" but I'm not sure at all. Is that correct? P.S: I also came across "to-go" so it's the same thing right?
