What is the difference between Baili Hongyi and Baili Erlang ?Feel free to just provide example sentences.

In the show Luoyang, one character is named Baili Hongyi in the media but one of his other names is Erlang. Im a bit familiar with some chinese honorifics from watching, but i cant find explanations on what Erlang vs Hongyi is. Is Erlang a personal name or honorific or family term?

Hongyi is his given name, Erlang means"the second son". (Er means 二: the second or two), So Baili Hongyi is his official name.

@ChaseM Thank you for clarifying! I thought the Er had something to do with 2nd as an honorific, but everyone was introducing him and referring to him as such and as far as I knew, there was no older brother etc. so I wondered if it was a birth name instead.

@ChaseM Thank you! 😊 i guess a native speaker within that culture would automatically assume another brother if they called him Erlang 😅
