Not really, it’s an archaic word most known for the Shakespeare line “Alas, poor Yorick…”

“Regrettably”, or “unfortunately”.
However you could use it comedically, “Alas, the bakery was out of cupcakes.”

@Sara-Egypt It’s understood by everyone, but not commonly used except poetically. It’s a contraction for “at last”, or “at long last”, which are still used more.
