“Give me a break” is normally said out of irritation, shock, or disgust. The closest other phrase I could think of that is similar would be “cut it out,” “leave me alone,” or “stop it.”
Here’s a couple scenarios of people using this sentence:
Person 1: “Could you hurry up?”
Person 2: “Give me a break! I just started 3 minutes ago”
Or
Person 1: “Can we go home already?”
Person 2: “Give me a break, it was your idea to get out of the house anyways.”
If said in a certain tone, it can come off as disrespectful or rude. But, it could be used in a joking manner if used properly.
