I grew up in eastern Finland with little to no Swedish speaking finns around. Now I live in the capital area. To me Ahvenanmaa or Åland seems like a nice place with people who don’t like finnish people. I feel a little confused and not sure about what they want right now. I visited Maarianhamina when I was younger and the people were nice but some didn’t speak or didn’t want to speak Finnish so I spoke Swedish (badly I might add). That is also something I often hear people say about Åland.
So to summarise: nice people who don’t like us and don’t like to speak in Finnish. They keep to themselves. Beautiful nature and city.
