"I had to* check the unit price of that kind of steel and measure* its length, width and height to figure out how much it was worth."
You can say "measure" instead of "measured" because "had" is already in the past tense.

@LadyGrey Thank you very much! Grey. but the meaning I want to express with "had a check" is just mean "ran a check", or simply just check. there is no have to alike meaning.

If someone else is doing the check because you asked them to, you can say this.
"I had a check run on the unit price of that kind of steel and I measured..."
/
"I had someone run a check..."
But if you are the person who checked it, you say
"I had to check..."
"I checked..."
"I ran a check..."
