“What will humanity be when we explore the stars” might be better
- Korean
I found the sentence online, but it looks wrong and a word nessasary for it to make sense seems omitted, so I'm asking if it's a correct sentence.
- English (US)
@per999 it could mean “what will be” as in the world/ universe” when we as humanity explore the stars… depends on what they were trying to evoke in the reader… if it’s a quote it would make sense because it is quite poetic:)
- English (US)
@chloe_frogs That would work if that's the intended meaning of the sentence. It's also possible that a word is omitted (possibly, for example, "there" before "be").

@InsertANameHere very true it might change the general flow of the quote but could make more sense grammar wise
It could also mean what would “become”
- English (US)
@chloe_frogs It might make more sense grammatically, but could have a different *meaning*. It would mean something different than the possible correction of "What will there be when humanity explores the stars?", for example.
That's not a criticism - I'm just noting that there's no surefire way to fix the sentence to mean what it's supposed to.
