Once you experienced something in your childhood, the memory would be carried on for the rest of your life and it would affect your behaviour immensely. I didn’t really experience famine in my childhood. Nevertheless, the food was precious in my memory. Wasting food was an off-limit. I detest wasting food. Once the food starts perishing, I salvage the remaining part—although others might consider the whole stuff is not edible anymore. Like tomatoes, if the black spot formed, I cut the black spot and use the rest. It’s not about the money. It’s an attitude towards food. Unless the evidence based data support the view that eating this kind of tomato has detrimental effects to your health, I’d continue to eat them.
