I feel like it's missing a word! "I agree that teachers should encourage students to have class discussions as often as possible" would sound more natural if that is what you mean!

This would also work: "I agree that teachers should encourage students to have class discussions as regularly as possible".

Otherwise, you might mean: "I agree that teachers should encourage students to have class discussions when possible".

'As possible' is used with adjectives in the following construction
"As adverb as possible"
I agree that teachers should encourage students to have class discussions as often as possible
Other examples would be:
Please complete your homework ASAP (as soon as possible)
He ran as fast as possible/ as he possibly could
You should start studying as soon as possible
Try practicing sentences with this phrase till it comes naturally to you.

I meant: teachers should encourage students to have more discussion when possible, or when there is opportunity. Often having discussion in class with classmates can help students develop teamwork skills and other skills.

So, I guess, can I use "as much as possible"? I guess I can also say "as often/regularly as possible", too. I saw on dictionaries that often=regularly. :)

Can I say "class discussion" without "s" at the end of "discussion" in this circumstance?

Yes, "as much as possible" would work! And yes, often=regularly.

In this circumstance, including the "s" appears more natural. This is because "often" and "much" mean there is more than one. Therefore, it is plural.

So: "teachers should encourage students to have more discussions when possible, or when there is opportunity. Often, having discussions in class with classmates can help students develop teamwork skills and other skills" would sound more natural :)

Possibly, you could say "teachers should encourage students to have more discussion when possible" like you did in that first sentence, but to me it feels less natural. I think sticking with "discussions" in this circumstance would be safer.
