์ํ๋ค is used when food gone off or your mind/body get bad after a tough experience.
๋งํ๋ค is used when something went bad like bankrupsy, being ruined, getting failed, etc. It is used for something unseen like project, situation, plan, one's life, a dynasty etc.

@kiwe108 thank you!
How is ์ํ ๋ชธ/์ ์ different to ๋ค์น ๋ชธ/์ ์ or ํผํด๋ฅผ/์์ฒ๋ฅผ ์
์ ๋ชธ/์ ์ ?
- Korean
@mdune when ์ํ๋ค is used, it indicates more comprehensive and abstract condition. Because it's original meaning is "staled food": ์ฐ์ ๊ฐ ์ํ๋ค> the milk get spoiled.
and *์ ์ ์ด ์ํ๋ค is wrong. the example of "mind" i said above can be ๋ง์, ๊ธฐ๋ถ, or ์์กด์ฌ etc.

@kiwe108 please could you explain what you mean by โcomprehensive and abstract conditionโ for ๋ชธ์ด ์ํ๋ค & ๋ชธ์ด ํผํด๋ฅผ ์ ๋ค? โบ๏ธ
- Korean
@mdune ummh...
As you know, ๋ค์น๋ค indicates physical damage like being cut, get bleeding. and ํผํด/์์ฒ๋ฅผ ์
๋ค does so as well: being suffered, get injury. So you can use the expression above in order to describe the specific damaged part: ๋ค๋ฆฌ๋ฅผ ๋ค์น๋ค, ๋จธ๋ฆฌ์ ํผํด๋ฅผ ๋นํ๋ค, ๋ง์์ ์์ฒ๋ฅผ ์
๋ค.
But ์ํ๋ค can be used when there's no physical or material damage. It is enought that there are some feeling or energy with seeing someone's overall appearance.
so you cannot say ์ํ๋ค with specific part of body: *๋ค๋ฆฌ๋ฅผ ์ํ๋ค, *๋จธ๋ฆฌ๋ฅผ ์ํ๋ค etc.

@kiwe108 I seeโฆ
So maybe like
๋ชธ์ด ๋ค์ณค๋ค = something like โI got in a car accident and my body is physically injured.
๋ชธ์ด ์ํ๋ค = something like โMy body is damaged but you canโt see it from the outside. Itโs just in bad condition.โ
Is that better?
- Korean
@mdune the meaning of ์ํ๋ค is closer to being haggard or emaciated not damaged.
so ๋ชธ์ด ์ข ์ํ ๊ฒ ๊ฐ์ is used to express his own feeling of his lossing vitality or strength after some hardship.
ah, but your understanding is perfect because people say ๊ฐ์ด ์ํ๋ค especially for saying his individual feeling of liver damage.
