@SC1121 the author of the letter feels bleshed because the aunt becomes happy
"~てくれる" means "do something for~", this also applies on feelings

I would maybe say it could be more of "to do something for me or somebody’s sake", in that case you could also write the sentence as "*Me* writing a letter (to my aunt), made my aunt very happy".
