@liu_jun Soup: Usually based on a stock, soup typically contains chunks of meats, vegetables, grains, and pastas cooked in the stock.
Gravy: Stocks that have been flavored with seasonings, wine, milk, juices, etc., concentrated, and thickened with cornstarch or flour to be served on meat, potatoes, and pastas.
Broth/Stock: This is a bit more difficult because people say they are different, but they are really just the same. For all practical purposes, there is no difference.

Broth or stock is made by boiling something in water. Stock is therefore notably one ingredient or a single flavor. Gravy is taking a stock and thickening it, usually by adding flour. Soup uses stock as an ingredient, often adding solid food.
Example: boil bones from cow (with some meat) to make beef stock. Combine beef stock and flour to make gravy. Add vegetables to beef stock to make vegetable soup.

@NerdChieftain Thanks! So New England clam chowder is a type of soup or broth?
- English (US)
@liu_jun Yes chowder is soup.
But, chowder might be better to be called stew. The rule is if it is more solid than liquid, it’s a stew. Stew is chunky soup. This is minor difference.
This is also a joke. People debate wether a food is a stew or a soup.
