Question about English (UK)
Humble : having or showing a modest or low estimate of one's importance.
My question is : can a person be humble in some situations? It has a positive connotation in general. But can it mean that a person underestimates his talents and importance?
I came across the sentence :
I felt very humble when meeting her.
What does it mean exactly in this situation? He was a bit nervous, etc.? Can a person be humble (a bit shy) in some situations or it’s more about a personality trait?
Thank you!

The word in this sentence means that the person who is humbled ( or feels humble) recognises the great achievements of the other person.
Quite often some who is well known as being clever or influential or of particular public interest says about himself that it was humlbing to meet someone even cleverer or extremely logical/rational

or

@olekander Hi ! thank you really much!!That was sooo helpful!
Could you think of any word that means ‘’humble to a fault’’? When the person denies his/her potential or importance despite being told otherwise.
Like, for example, in this sentence :
I can be ____ in new surroundings.
I feel that ‘’shy’’ is not the one I’m looking for. It’s more about being nervous or embarrassed.
Thank you again!
