No creo que "drowned" sea la palabra que quieres. Ninguna oración tiene sentido.

You would say "drowned in dirty water." If the person died from poison or disease in the water and not by being trapped under water, that is not drowning.

They got sick by drinking contaminated water. (Dirty is fine too, contaminated is just more accurate). But you don’t drown just by drinking water. Drowning means the lungs fill up with water.
