Question about English (UK)
In secondary schools (中学, 高校)
English as foreign language
starts to be taught.
All pupils are obliged to learn
''what is your hobby?'' for
''what do you like to do in your
free time?''
I feel the former is unnatural,
but the latter is too casual.
I wanna propose other ways.
''what sort of recreation are
you fond of enjoying on your
holidays/in your available time??''
I'd love you to tell me how you've
felt about my proposition.

It sounds like I am asking this to my boss, that too, for an official purpose.
It seems too official or formal for me.

Much Appreciated.
have you felt ''odd'' about
my proposition? I reckon
it is certainly formal and
official, but I believe that
it should be appropriate.

I don't believe it will be appropriate to use with friends certainly. Also just saying, "What sort of recreation are you fond of to enjoy in your free time?" will work better while making acquaintance with someone
