You can visit Uluru and there are some interesting towns along the way. The desert is very flat and the drive takes a long time. The night sky is clear and you can see the stars much better than in the city.

@neko7neeko I want to go to a desert one day. Can I visit the Australian desert?* sounds more natural.
For me at least, saying “in the future” makes it seem like you want to go in the (distant) future to the desert wheras using “one day” would sound more like you dont mind when you went. I would say “I want to go to the desert in the future when the available accomodation is much nicer” but I could also use “one day” instead as well
