Question about Hindi
If बात is a feminine noun, then is it true that in a perfective sentence without a direct object, the conjunct verb बात करना must agree with its noun part बात. I have an example sentence "Vijay's elder brother didn't let him talk with his friends" and I think the correct translation is:
विजय के बड़े भाई ने उसे अपने दोस्तों से बात करनी न दी।
But Google translates it as:
विजय के बड़े भाई ने उसे अपने दोस्तों से बात करने नहीं दिया।
So where is the truth?

Hi
Both the hindi translation is not correct because in negative sentences, the negative particle नहीं generally comes between the noun or adjective and करना.
so the correct translation will be something like this :- विजय के बड़े भाई ने उसे अपने दोस्तों से बात नहीं करने दी।
The form of करना verb with a noun or adjective is quite difficult to understand, even native speakers won't notice the mistake.
This is a complex topic which takes a bit of time to understand.
here is an article I found on this topic
https://hindilanguage.info/hindi-grammar/verbs/...
hope this might help.

@surabhiimasu Thanks, I read this article and it was helpful, but found the answer in another one. I finally figured out what exactly caused my confusion: Inflection of the infinitive according to the gender and number of its object. This article describes it:
https://hindilanguage.info/notes/volume-4/infin...
But I did not fully understand why the infinitive can inflect for gender and number like an adjective (right?), but in the oblique case it is always singular masculine!

@tgeor well! I am not good at grammar.
I went through that article that you mentioned, what I understand is that
for default cases masculine form is used.
I need to go back in time and need to ask my hindi teacher for this 🥲.
sorry, I may not be able to help you on this in detail.
Best of luck in your hindi learning journey. ☺☺
