辞書で「親無し」は「孤児」だけの意味ですが、ここで「親と共にじゃない」の意味と思いますが、この例文の言い回しは正しいですか？

会話文なので自然だと思います。というのも会話であればイントネーションが変わります。「親・無しで」なら「親と一緒じゃない」、「親無し・で」なら孤児です。これが文章だと文脈から判断するしかありません。
私は日本人ですが、@chifangli さんと同じ様に、「孤児、あ、それはおかしいか「親・無しで」の方か」と文を読みながら、頭を働かせました。言い回しは正しいですが、少しの混乱を招くので文章なら「親無しで」を使わずに「友達だけで」とか工夫してもいいかもしれませんね。

「無し」という言葉は他の名詞に直接付いて複合名詞を作ります。そのひとつが「親無し」だということです。ほかにも：
父無し
母無し
金無し
家無し

一文なし

などの言葉がいくつもあります。
と言うか、一般的に確立された単語と認められていなくても、表現の中に使うことは可能です。
⇒水無し食事無しの日を数日間強いられた。
⇒私は親無し家無し車無しの、何のとりえもない人間だ。
この「無し」はその前の言葉が示すものごとが無い状態あるいはその状態にある人間を意味するので、「親無し」という言葉を人間に当てはめたときに「孤児」という同義語が出現するというだけの話でしょう。
つまり「親無し」というのは「親が存在しない状態」を示していますが、それが定常的なのか暫定的なのかは決まっていないのです。たとえば「一文なし」を例にとると、
⇒私は学生時代たいてい一文なしだったが、故郷の親から仕送りがあったあとの数日間は大金持ちの気分になったものだ。
だからその辞書が「親無し」を「孤児」と定義付けているのは、その語を「定常的なその状態にある者」という面から説明しているだけであり、言葉が持っている本来の語義の一部分だけが取り上げられているように思われます。ちょっと視野が狭いのではないかという気がしますね。
