La diferencia es que esto se refiere a un objeto o un conjunto de objetos que está cerca de la persona

"Esto"(witout gender or when is not nessesary) / "este" (for male words) / "esta" (for female words) - (this) - it's used for talk about things or objects that are near of you or in your hands. Also is used to talk about something that said just a seconds ago.
"Esto"(para palabras sin genero o cuando no es necesario especificarlo), "este"(para palabras masculinas), "esta"(para palabras femeninas) - Se usa para hablar de cosas u objetos que están cerca de ti o de algo que tienes en tus manos. Además esta palabra se usa para hacer referencia a algo de lo que apenas hablaste.
